The U.K.'s largest public transport company, First Group plc, have come up with a fabulous idea. All their Glasgow buses now display a yellow sticker on the backside, "cyclists beware when passing on the inside".

How considerate of them. As a cyclist, it would never in a million years have occured to me to be wary when passing a massive double decker bus on the inside. I'm so glad they've alerted me to this useful and potentially life saving piece of information.

I shall now make up a similar sign for my beloved bike which will read "bus drivers beware when passing on the outside" just so they don't get crushed by me when they overtake and then misjudge my position, displaying their generic ineptitude in realising that bicycles move in space and time similar to other vehicles, and, yes, pedestrians.

My mind is a bit boggled though, because, you see, it's hard to tell who is passing whom, who is inside and who is outside. And where should we all be? I happily always stay on the outside of buses, but that usually exposes me to language which is not made for my sensitive ladylike ears.

I'm sure though that this mutual warning and display of genuine concern will be a much needed warm gesture towards immensely improving the relationship between bus drivers and cyclists,  making the roads of Glasgow ever so safe. Thank you Glasgow City Council for arranging the visionary forced marriage which allows us cyclists to share the red tarmac of love with caring and yellow stickered buses.

"You have been warned", I hear the bus driver chuckle, "and now I can finally make you into a pancake, whoohey!"
